Does anyone know where I can find information about updating BIOS in the Sysopt Forums? I'd be grateful if someone lets me know where the thread is located.

Well I'll search for help here too:P

Well I have a old ASUS A7V133 motherboard, and my BIOS version is 1001C (?), and I want to update to 1009 available at ASUS website so my motherboard will be able to support more powerful CPUs, and YES, I am aware of the consenquences for screwing up during the update process.

I heard something about going to DOS and loading the file etc...etc...well um, that seems a bit too complecated for me.

Is there a more easier way to update the BIOS within the OS without a big hassle? I am running Windows XP, my CPU is AMD Athlon 900Mhz, and my motherboard is ASUS A7V133 with VIA KT133A chipset...(I believe:D)

I hope I can get some feedback to this thread, thanks ya!

There are no guarantees. You could try Asus Live Update:

It only costs a few dollars to have a shop update your BIOS. Make some local calls.

The process is very straightforward but by all means - Bill is right - if you're a novice you could end up with a dead machine and their charge ought to be almost nothing.

Just make sure you find an honest shop - when I first got started with computers I had one shop fix an older laptop (supposedly their specialty) - charged too much - sent the machine out for the repair - did nothing right and honked up my HDD.

That's when I decided I had to learn how to do this stuff myself or go to sysopt when I'm stuck - worked out great for me over the years and I've saved lots of $$ (with the exception fo a trade or two gone bad :( )
