hhhmmm....didn't get too hot did it?
i think i've experienced this once or twice, may have just been some weird glitch, i don't think it's much to worry about, unless it does it frequently, but i don't know what the cause is...

Did you overclock your computer recently? Change cpu fan/heatsink?
The only time i've seen this happen was when i was messing with overclocking. My cpu is a PIII 750@933MHz. It's at 133X7 right now (and perfectly stable), but, if i go any higher, it'll post and even bring up windows. But, when i do any benchmarking like 3DMark2000, it'll just shutdown and reboot.

might want to shut it down and leave it for a while, i don't know what it might be, but if you haven't shut it down correctly yet, might want to sometime.

If it only happens when your online it may be a trojan.

Look for a PATCH.EXE with a satilite icon.

thats the only trojan im famillair with.. netbus.

if you find a patch.exe go to start run.

C:\WINDOWS\patch.exe -remove

also look for any exe in the C:\windows folder with a satlite icon. (eg. file1.exe, file2.exe) Usally thats done whern they use an EXE binder to hide the trojan in an program.

hope this helps a bit

I'm very familar with Netbus but I'm sure that's not the case... My CPU is overclocked to 1533 Mghz but I have never had any problems like this before... just does it at random... I've shut donw all chat programs and then went on invisible on ICQ I'll see what happens..

Check your RAM.. it could be a problem stick.

Most people seldom dismiss this, but how about the possiblity of a power brown out in your area. Once the incoming AC voltage drop below a certain level for only a short instance, systems have been known to simply reboot. Might be worth looking into if the system checks out.

This happened to me a few times last year. I think I made a post about it too.

I believe it was a power brownage...my comp is not O/C or anything and it didn't happen after those few times.

I have seen this before (actually a few times)
1) the RAM is getting or has gotten too hot (common on OC'd systems) and is now unstable.
2) Power fluctuations in your area.
3) Power supply is going.
4) Corosion on the power switch. You might want to check all these out.

Re-seat all your cards in the slots.

This was exactly what was happening to me last year. I'd be online one minute, the screen would go black and the system restart.
It was happening about 1 in 3 times of logging on and it was getting VERY annoying!

To cut a long story short I traced it to the modem drivers. I discovered the ones I had were prone to doing this. I downloaded newer ones and have never had this problem since.

You have a kiddie program that prevents you from going into sites that have explicit content. Are you sure you're an adult? =)

Heh... Yes I'm an adult I built this system myself so I'm pretty sure that there's no anti-porn software.. no trojans, bad RAM or lose cards... but I did find the culpret a loose PS/2 Mouse cord to my optical mouse... I checked all the cables and when I found it was loose I nugged it and it rebooted.. weird eh.. well I pushed it back in restarted and no probs since.. so I guess another oddity to the mysteriously self restarting systems that we have all come across..

sorry it took so long to get this info back to ya but I've been pretty sick lately and have done nothing but work and rest though I would like to thank everyone who came to my rescue.. Peace out..
