I got this Sun i386 case (the only sun with an intel CPU) and i want to modify it for an AT motherboard.
It looks like that:

Now this case is made of 3mm thick sheet metal (very heavy) and it has a weird PSU (look for the text in the image bellow)
<IMG SRC="http://www.otheos.clara.net/pub/i386in.jpg" border=0>
On the PSU is says:
SPS265, Model PEX446-32 P/N: 300-1046-01
OUTPUT: +5.1V - 38A, +12V - 5.6A
276.88W, -5.2V - 1.9A, -12V - 0.5A
The other difference is that there is no cable coming out of the PSU, instead it has a part of PCB extruding on one side with 4 contacts at each side (two large and two small per side, I presume the +/-12 and +/-5).
Can I use this PSU? (I wouldn't like to cut a hole on the back lol).
Thanks for any help.

Hmmm...my thought are this.
First, it is a nice heavy duty caes...they used to make them like a brick sh** house!! LOL.
Second, The PSU will have to go. An AT mobo will take up the space where it is now.
Up top, there is an aluminum 'box'?...what is this...I would think that if this device, and the stuff right below it where there are some ribbon cablles are connected to should also be removed, a cut-out made in the rear for a standard AT style PSU.
You may also have to cut some additional card holes in the rear for the ISA or PCI slots outputs, depending on the chosen mobo.
Can you provide a rear view of the case under what you already have, by editing your original post, so we can view the case from all angles together.

Thanks for your reply!
I will take some pics of my case tomorrow, the ones I posted are from Sun.
The PSU was the most probable part to go, and so it will. I will have a bit of trouble cutting the hole for the new PSU where the small box on the top is (my case hasn't got this, I think it's the hard drive cage). like I said its 3mm thick and my jigsaw will not take it. I will have to think of a way though.
I will bring the case home this weekend to see what I can do and take some measurements with the mobo.
Pictures tomorrow....
Thanks.

Well, certainly I don't know what kind of jig saw you have, but I have had multi speed Sabre Saws, which is a type of jig saw, and with a fine toothed metal cutting blade, and the saw running at reduced rpm, I have cut metal as thick as 1/4th inch, or at a higher speed but slowly and not 'pushing' the cut, and maybe even cooling the blade with a little oil...depending on what I was cutting.
The hard drive cage could be placed in the lower front if possible. Not knowing the exact layout, its hard to say...

The case, emty, from its side:

and with the front bezel removed:

Nice 12mm blowholes huh?
What do you think?
Thanks for the help!
Edit: Typos.

there is enoug place for the cdrom and floppy just srew some metal on the side of the box like a 3.15 from a atx case and make the flopy on the side of the box instead of the front
