<<--This was initially intended for the Steals and Deals Forum, but it's a worthy read for everyone-->>
I've been the moderator here since we went to UBB back in January. I've the pleasure of saying that you all are the best bunch of guys and gals out there - no BBS or Forum has a better mix.
However, over the past week or two, I've noticed a subtle change. There's less tolerance for people, less help, and more bickering, arguing, and fighting. I'm not against disagreeing (and even a bit of bickering http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) whatsoever, but when it begins to degrade the Forum, I am forced to take action.
For those of you that are still the best out there, then keep up the good work. For those that are trying directly or indirectly to stir up trouble, realize what you are doing is annoying the rest of us and let it go.
This Forum was created for questions, answers, information sharing, fun, humor, and some good deals on computer stuff or well, anything else for that matter http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Don't let it degenerate down like so many others have done.
So keep on with the good questions and info. This Forum is still the finest among any of the hardware sites with the greatest, most helpful techs anywhere (I'd argue that to my grave), not excluding the two greats - Magic 8-Ball and the Elf http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. So take advantage of this fine opportunity and don't waste it by childish or demeaning posts. They are completely unecessary and have no place here.
Now... back to the info.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Oh, and Vitamins.com has $25 off $25.01 and free shipping for new customers. So head over and take advantage of this deal. Nothing like a Ginseng tablet.... naw, I won't go there. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Here is just a thought on my part, there are a lot of totally new users out there finding sysopt and posting questions that are not quite understandable because of a lack of computer vocabulary or technical knowledge,i think that some of the regulars are runnimg into the problem of disbelief on their part at some of the, to them ,(STUPID)questions that they are faced with.It can be a problem when you know your stuff, someone who doesn't can be a fustrating thing to deal with.I speak from personal experience, I have asked questions that weren't understood by one person and someone else would some how get the idea of what I wanted and answer my post. But the potential was there for a bit of nastiness.Regardless this is still the best spot .

This is definitly the BEST Forum on the net. You get help, make freinds, help others, and get other's opinions. Sure theres some people who arent 'shining stars'. Heck, no one is, But thats life. Good work Joel in controling the bickering n stuff. you guys should see some other boards...Most of em are beyond saving as far as petty arguements and attacks on other people go. This is a great board with people who are willing to help whenever possible. We all gotta help and try make this board its best!

hmm baffled, I'm not so sure about that. I think most, if not all, of the really knowledgeable, experienced, and most helpful ones here are mature and wise enough to realize that (1) There are no stupid questions, and (2) We all began in the same place, with the same questions. Frankly, I don't see it with them.
I came here at first and still come here with what some may think of as "stupid" questions. That's how we learn. And in so doing we are able to give back. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
I should add that it helps us help you when you give us as much information as possible regarding a problem. Things like: whats in your system, or the dialog of error messages, for example. And if we don't understand the question, we'll ask you to clarify a bit further. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You are right but the really good ones don't always get to respond first, maybe not until fifth or later and by then the problem may have escalated.

Well, I'm really new here. Some of you may have seen my postings, or my answers (suggestions.) Although I haven't been here too long, I havfe shed my "junior" member rating rather quickly. (how many postings does that take anyway?) Nearly everything I know (or think I know) was learned from personal experience (nightmares!) So, I'm quick to answer to anything I think I may have the answer to.
But, at least so far, everyone has been nothing but helpful and curteous! I used to go to ZDTV's boards each and every day, and I still do now, but coming here is definately the first thing I do each time I log on.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me with (Gawd knows how many!) problems so far.
I look forward to interacting with all of you in the future.
Just thought I'd throw that in..........

Hey grandslammer, did you catch me on ZDTV's "The ScreenSavers" on Monday, and/or on the repeat of that episode this evening? I didn't say much, but was on the show in their chatrooms and what not. It was really cool to meet all of them - they're terrific people.

Yeah Scott, I sure did! You were the one behind the desktop. I watch the show all the time. Kate and Leo rock! Screensavers, call for help and zip file are my favorite shows.
I thought it was kinda funny, my favorite show, and you from my favorite site. I bet that was fun for you!
By the way, congrats on all..
Take care

"Ca Can't We All Jus Just Get Along"
Kudos Joel. This is a great site, but there are always going to be people out there that like to cause discomfort to everyone else. I think it was about time for a post like this. I havn't spent a lot of time here for couple of months because ofbackstabbing, and nit picking and so on, not to mention a busy schedule. Hopefully, this won't be needed again for awhile. I also notice a few of you out there keeping things in check, i.e. "no bad language" and stuff. Kudos to you too, you all know who you are...
One other thing that should be brought to the fore, that has been mentioned a few times before, is: When someone replys to your post, and the suggestion given works, post a message in your thread stating what was done and what worked. That way, anyone else looking for advise on the same problem, doesn't have to make duplicate posts, trying to find the same answer that you had been given. All they have to do is look in your thread.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Keep up the good work Scott and Joel.

All you have to do is look at some of the posts at Arandtech to see how hostile and cynical some of the answers are to many people there. We surely do not need that here. This is a great forum, and I have learned many things, as well as trying not to put my foot in my mouth when answering questions. Keep up the great work.

I agree that this is a great forum. I haven't posted in the past but have visited a number of times. I have been involved in other forums and SysOpt is the best. It has been in the last few weeks that I have decided to take up residency here so I hope that things continue to go well. SysOpt as a hardware site also is very nice with user reviews being one of my favorite things.
Thanks to all who contribute to SysOpt.com
