I Have a A-Bit Bh6 Mobo, currently running a P3 450. Reciently accuired a Celeron 850/100, processor, the cpu soft menu doesn't have the setup for a that size celeron, the highest is a celeron 433/66, but if i go user define I can go as high as a multiplier of x8, and a bus speed of 100, which will in theory give me at least a Celeron 800/100.
I could go for a bios update, but that according to the manual, will only recognise a celeron up to 466/66.
Is what i am proposing possible, or won't it recognise it?

You're asking for too much:

The BH-6 was a great board in it's day, but that was 5 years ago. Leave it die and upgrade to a new mobo as BPB said above.

As much as I would love to be able to upgrade, unfotunately i'm not that flush with money at the moment, so I will just have to make do with this old beast for the moment. At least she behaves her self, Touch wood!!!!

Well, you bought the CPU.

You should find a way to upgrade because the board won't be available forever. The socket 370 motherboards are getting really rare.

Why not upgrade to an Abit BP-6 mobo and sell the BH-6 mobo?

The cost of upgrade would be minimal.

Did you try it in the mobo? I tried a celeron 1 G in an abit-bh6, but it wouldn't post completely -- froze just after CPU detection. Doubt it would hurt to try.

No I haven't yet, just thought I would throw it at you guys first and see what feedback I got.
But probably won't bother now as have just aquired a A-Bit BX133-Raid, socket 370 board which will accept the Celeron 850,
Got it for nothing. By the way Bill I didn't buy the Celeron, I also got that for nothing! Got them both from the same guy, who seems to have more money than sense, but who am I to complain!!!!!!:x
