Hello
I'm going to in the near future upgrade my CPU i have been told that upon doing this the best thing to do is to re-format my HDD so what i would like to know being a newbie & computer novice will someone please advise me of the best way to re-format my HDD.
Please keep this explanation as simple as possible as i have not attempted to do this be4 the OS that i'm using is a Windows ME upgrade from "98" i have already made a start up disk on installing the upgrade.
Any help would be grately appreciated.

the CaddmannQ is right only thing i might add is before you change anything, hit delete to get into your BIOS at the startup and look at each item, write them down first. before you upgrade the CPU, let us know your settings for the CPU, (make sure you let us know what kind of computer you have) or if you have a book (if it's not a Compaq) we will help you set it up correctly. If it is a Compaq that could be more difficult.

I have an old 233MMX and am puting in a AMD K611 550 I'm not changing the mainboard and I do have the book for it I have already had a look at the jumpers and am confident that I can set it up with very little effort but a mate of mine told me that only some times you have to reformat your HDD, I don't know how to do this and I belive that this would be a good thing to know just to be on the safe side.
so the system is an IBM combatible.
