Frankly, I don't like LCD displays. They are slow and fuzzy for the most part. If you have the desk room, stick with CRT.

You really need to go look at this before you lay down cash. The shipping and restocking fees on displays is considerable.

bipolar bill is right, if you have the room Stick with a CRT.
The only reason you should buy lcds is when you don't got the space

If you are gonna do gaming you really want to stay away. And you are going to have to stick to a low resoution because 1280x1024 at 75 hz is bad (anything under 85 is bad) [unless you are like my friend who uses 60hz 24/7]

I totally disagree with the last 2 replys. NEW LCD displays are no longer slow or fuzzy. That was only the case with the previous models (<2003)
Almost all new LCD monitors that came out this year have a refresh rate below 25ms and in most cases 16ms. With a refresh rate this low there is no "ghosting" visible. Same applies to fast action DVD's. The strain that the new LCD's panels place on the eyes is less then the CRT monitors. Also, they weigh less, take up less space, and consume less power then CRT's. And don't forget that many of these LCD'S have both analog and digital inputs. How many CRT's do you know that have that?
I can attest since I have a Samsung Syncmaster 191t monitor and would never trade it for another CRT, even a Sony Trinitron Monitor that I had before.

If I had the money, I'd go LCD for the reasons Hokie gave. Most especially the lower eyestrain factor is important to me since I spend so much time at the screen and my eyes could be better. But I'm too poor so I'll make do with my Hitachi CM721F 19" flat screen CRT for a while longer

/me pretends to suffer

Solarism, Hitachi and Planar make LCDs with fast pixel refresh rates that are suitable for gaming without blurring or fuzziness. The specs on that LG don't look bad either though I'm not familiar with it otherwise.

I'd wait out the storm (which is what I'm doing) and wait for plasmas or LCD's to start outperforming CRT's before you get one. Go to the store, look at em both (Best Buy is a good place) and see if one bugs ya more than the other, silver edges make me twitch and unsharp text makes me sick :D

Cyan,

If you have an LCD with digital input and for your OS use windows xp+ then "unsharp text" is no longer a factor. Microsoft has included a feature called ClearType that allows LCD's to display improved font display resolution over traditional anti-aliasing. If this feature is enabled you'd be shocked how clear and realistic text looks!

I think people have got to realize that CRT's are a thing of the past. While LCD and Plasma have problems they more then make up for them with their advantages. They are the future for computer and tv displays!!!

Okay, let me repharase, Unsharp lines make me sick. That option changes fonts, not lines, I notice, and I can't stand it when something is showin fuzziness. (not teddy bears)
