I have a Cendyne 48x12x48 CDRW. The problem that I have with it is that sometimes it won't read the CD. I put one in the tray, close it, open explorer and click on the CD drive and I get the message that there is no CD in the tray. The funny thing is that if I put my hand on the drive I can feel it start to spin up, but then it stops. Even wierder is that if I lay the computer on its side or at about a 45 degree angle, the drive spins up and the reads the CD. Any Ideas or comments.

The other day I tried burning a disc. Watched it go through the whole process. Got a successful completion message. Then When I tried to play the disc it came up as empty. Sound familiar to anyone?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

(OBTW, the unit was made by Lite-on)

I would return the drive. There's no "fix" for this behavior.

****! I was afraid of that. How can you return something without the box?

Wrap it up in anything cushy. The serial # is on the drive, right? ;)

It could be the lense on the drive is dirty. I happen to me before. I bought cd lens cleaner and it work.

If your drive is new and do not have a box, this is what my cousin did - he went out bought another drive, went home, pulled out the new drive, and put the defective drive back in the box. Take it back and return it. A even exchange.

If you still have the paperwork, contact Cendyne directly. Make sure you have a receipt to prove u just bought this drive
