I have an Abit KD7-RAID motherboard and Saturday morning my computer was locked up, so I reset it and now it won't even post. I took it apart, down to the motherboard and tried to get it to post and nothing. All the fans start up but no post. Is the motherboard toast or what?

Grab a magnifying glass and look carefully at the capacitors:

If they are leaking or bulging, Abit should replace the board - even beyond the warranty. Abit bought more of these bad capacitors than any other maker.

I looked at all the caps and they look fine. No bulgeing or leaking. What else should I look for?

Remove the board from the case, place it on a soft, non-conductive surface near the case and plug in the ATX power. Place the vid card in and connect the monitor. Connect the power. Nothing else needs to be connected. Press down hard on the vid card and use your screwdriver to short the POWER BUTTON pins. See if it POSTs.

If it POST's, then it must be shorting on the case?

Yes - or one of the cards is the problem.

OK. I pulled the motherboard out of the case and tried to get it to post, no post. I guess the motherboard is toast
