Bovon 05-30-2001, 04:56 PM Personally, I have never noticed any difference at all. It seems to me that the only difference is haveing com 1 & 2 ports available for other things. NDD 05-30-2001, 05:42 PM If I remember correctly, COM mouse refresh rate is 100 vs 400 of PS2 mouse. It just moves less smooth. Best Regards ... Richard_Cranium72 05-30-2001, 07:18 PM Get a Optical mouse, my Microsoft USB cost $25.00 at Circuit City and is Great. Performance increase due to the fine tuning to have the cursor jump to the next box automatically.. Love it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif DrVette DanU 05-30-2001, 11:30 PM I haven't noticed any difference between serial and PS2 mice either. Both interfaces will take up an IRQ, so you gain nothing here. Serial mice take up an RS232 port, so don't get this if you need both ports available for other stuff. ND, the mouse refresh rate is much lower than that. It's usually at about 40Hz, but you can change it so it's higher. Check out the utility "PS2 Rate Plus" from http://www.tweakfiles.com . This only works for PS2 mice, but I don't see why someone can't write one for serial mice. Personally, I don't care how the mouse plugs into the computer, whether it uses serial, PS2 or USB. What matters to me is the ergonoimcs of the mouse. Go with what feels best for you. SysOpt.com
