I'm in the same situation. only 96 megs of RAM and 4megs on videocard. A geforce2MX would probably be more than enough. (I'm probably going to get one here preaty soon just to upgrade this comp a little more. k62-450@520 5.5x95 since ram wont go 100FSB)

right a Geforce MX and another 64 mb of ram could be had for around $200. That will give you the most bang for the buck. I really think you should get both, especially with memory so cheap nowadays

what I have found is that some plugins use video cards some dont, Giess and milkdrop doesn't and I'm sure AVS doesn't either. On the other hand Jet does.

I think the price would be a whole lot less for a Geforce2 MX (good choice) and another 64mb RAM....I'm thinking $70-80 for the card and like $15 or less for the RAM (generic).

Just a little heads up, I run a dual boot system with WinME and 2k and tnt2 riva with 32megs of ram. When running the avs on ME they are pretty slow, but when I run them in Win 2k they run great

win2k pro for me.

Tyan Trinity100AT mobo
K6-2 450@520 5.5X95
96 megs RAM (all the sticks are said to be PC100 by sandra but the only one that will boot up at 100FSB is the 64meg stick)
S3 Virge DX/GX 4 meg videocard
1 4.2gig HDD segate somthing or other
1 6.4gig HDD Western Digitial somthing or other (It has a slight defect, dont like lare amounts of data to be saved to it (installing games or other applications. So its basicly MP3 storage)
sound card, average generic yamaha thing.

If I run the winamp AVS at like 320X200 and sit across the room it looks really nice. But it looks best in a tiny windowed section. (I've been messing with creating my own visuals and I made a rather nice one IMHO) Sorry if I bored you all..

nah its not boring

i only have 64 megs of regular ram, and on winamp i have to make the av window about an inch square to make it able to keep up with the music sad huh
