I'm picking up a new graphics card but I really am on a budget. I cant spend more than £50.
I think the main choices are:
Geforce3 ti
Geforce 4 MX (Yes, I know.)
Radeon 9000/9100
I'm thinking that the Geforce 3 ti would be the best choice but the Radeon has hope.

Gf3 ti200, then as soon as you get it home set to work on overclockign it. If you can get a decent overclockers make with RAMsinks if at all possible, although dont go over budget specifically for em

What would you call a decent overclockers make exactly?
I'll try for some RAMsinks and thermal epoxy.

LOL, Jakk that is the exact one I was looking at but my Dad insists I buy all my stuff at computer fairs so I'll try my best to find it there.
Thanks all.:t

One more thing, I've been looking at that card and it looks like it already has RAMsinks so I'm not gunna need to buy any, correct?

Correctimundo
If i were you i would go and get it from ebuyer if you really cant wait. I doubt you'll find it at a computer fair, and ebuyer tend to be nice and cheap. Your only concern whgere ebuyer are concerned is support, and you get bugger all of that at most computer fairs anyways :p

Yeah well there is this fair on sunday so we're going early, getting a load of stuff, getting it all home, testing it all then taking back any bad parts for immediate replacement.
I guess if I don't see it there then I'll order it and just have to WAIT to get my new rig setup.
whats delivery like from them other than being free until may 1st.

Ebuyer's delivery is really good, just hope you never have to return anything. They sent my brother two Athlon XPs instead of the MPs he'd ordered - took a month to sort it out :( Maybe that's why they're so cheap...

By good do you mean, I order now and it arrives in a couple of days or next day or a week or...?

Arrived in a couple of days. Most of the order was fine, just the processors were wrong.

Thanks fishy.
I'll just have to look for it on sunday if it is not available there then I'll order it and hopefully be up and running on Tuesday/wednesday.

they're the best here... there cheap compared to apogee chaintech, palit daytona, asus and offers a lot also uses the same memory chips that kingston is actually using... I say INNO3d is the best.....

never tried that one the ones I found good for overclocking are PNY and Gainward jeez after I upgrade my video card to the gainward geforce 3 ti450 I'll have 2 spare video cards

Of the ones listed, I'd go with the ti200 too.

I'm glad we all agree.
I'll look for Gainward, PNY or inno3d.
Thanks

Sorry, but I don't share your opinions...all of them...
I think that the Radeon 9100 64 MB DDR blows away all of the GeForce 3 Ti500 cards...I have tested it...with no overclocking the and the same spesifications I mean...example:
Radeon 9100 64MB DDR - $75
GeForce3 Ti500 64MB DDR - more than $75...
How can you make such bad mistakes, like this one...?
The ATI 9100 GPU is pure 8500 L/E chip, which has all of the 8500 GPU features, without the second texturing module (4 pipelines with 1 texturing module for each one)...everyone knows that the 8500 series are equal to GeForce4 TI...
I heard that the 9100 gives more fps in new games than the GF3...
Prove me wrong...

Look at this:
http://www.hardwaremania.com/reviews_eng/avsn/avsn1.shtml
The Radeon 8500 L/E is better than Ti200 and GF3 original, but not than Ti500, but in some tests in 3Dmark the Radeon is very powerful...My mistake for the second texturing module...The Radeon 8500 L/E has it, like his BigBrother Radeon 8500...
I think that the 9100 will be the same...
If you can't reach the link, here is some info:
Radeon 8500 LE 250/250 - 3dmark2001 score: 7831
GF3TI500 240/250 - 3dmark2001 score: 7786
In Q3 the GF3 wins...The image quality of the Radeon is better, including the TruForm technologie and the 400MHz RamDAC...
If you overclock it to 275/275 it will become a real 8500 and no GF3 can reach you...

The most logical choice for price/performance rate is Ti200 series.
I think I'm good with the Gf3 ti. Plus I really like Nvidia's drivers and support.

but if not that "GAMER" or "OC ADDICT" i'd stick to a geforce 4 mx 440se.... cheap but "kicks"... only if you prefer pixel shaders, and environment bump mapping this card is not for you....

Well personally I went ATI, but I had more budget too and walked away with a 9500 Pro.

What about those of us that are not gamers but do 3d art rendering like poser, paint shop pro, etc?
I have a ATI pro 9000 64MB and I want to go to a card with 128MB. I am more into the quality of the graphics than speed for gaming. Also, my ATI card has a problem with OpenGL applications like....my modelling program:eek:
I too am not made out of money....I almost got sucked into buying one of those FX5200 cards. In fact, the more I read the more confused I'm getting. I just want a 128MB DDR card to work in my 3d world and not go busted that will handle the OpenGL applications without me turing off the graphic accelerator to use it.
Which is the case for the ATI card.
I was looking at the nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 SE 128MB DDR. Again, the more search the more confused I get:x :x :x
Help this ol' sod out:rolleyes:
Cheers

You need to start your own thread. It gets very difficult when multiple questions are trying to be answered in one thread.

If all you want is a card that will handle OpenGL well and has 128MB of memory then you may want to look for a Ti200 128MB.

Well I ordered the Gainward on ebuyer. There was one at the fair but it was priced at £75:eek: I think it arrived today but my parents decided I should wait untill my birthday so I actually have a present because we agreed to get my new system as an early pressie. So until may 10 I'm stuck with this Geforce 2MX I borrowed.:(
Thanks for the help.:t
