ok so heres what the case is,
i had 2*32 mb sdram, then i added 1*256 mb sdram.
norton diagnostics says there is a prob'.
the bit i cant figure is if i put any combination of 2 of the sd's in any combination of the 3 slots norton reports no prob. but as soon as i add the 3rd sd' regardless of slot the prob is back.

the 256 is pc133 and the 32s are older so maybe pc66.

Why don't you just take the 2 32megs out. I mean I know your losing 64 megs, but 256 should be enough especially since its so much faster.
One more thing, are you sure your board can handle PC133?

well Undeadlord, the board is a gigabyte GA-6BXC so i think it can handle the 133. the guy in the shop where i got it didnt say it couldnt (but then some of these computer shop guys are only looking for your cash!)

I agree, ditch the 2 32MB'ers. They seem to be more problem than they are worth.

What exactly is the problem? I replied to a similar situation in which another member had errors reported by Norton but not buy any other system checker. It seemed that the problem was with Nortons diagnostics. If your system is running fine and your are not experiencing any other problems just enjoy your upgrade.

I had that same exact Giga-byte board. Good board, anyway I think your right if I remeber correctly it can handle PC133 .. but I w ould still dump the 2 32Megs .. just causes more problems than its worth.

The other thing is, the old 32Mb chips will make the new PC133 chip run at their speed. You may even gain performance by removing them!

Don't forget to check in the bios to make sure that the memory is running at 133 after you dump the old chips (or set the jumpers for 133Mhz memory bus).
