I just set up a small network and shared a folder where everyone will store their documents. I'm having trouble setting a sharing permission that will allow everyone to do anything they want to all the documents and folders but delete them.
I want to prevent deletions to any folder or document.
When I go to the share permissions and uncheck full controll for my users and allow read and write. I then went to security and unchecked full controll again. I also removed everyone group from both the share permissin and security permissions.
The users are still able to delete.
Any suggestions.

Might need a tad bit more info to help you out and do it the right way. What OSes are you using? Is this in a domain or Workgroup?
If this is on a Domain you may want to try and use the file pemissions which has more options rather than share options that is limmited. You should not need to use both Share and File Security to restrict them, just one should do the job. This is again depending on your set up.

this is a Windows 2000 domain with a windows 2000 advanced server (only one server or domain controller).
After reading a little more, what it is basically saying is that I can not do what I want. If I allow write permission then they can delete and if they create a file or folder then they will have owner ship and they can delete.
I wanted them to have basically full control except for the deletion. They can create folders and files within the share folder and they can append data to other files, but I did not want them to delete anything.

If this is an NTFS system, don't forget to go into Advanced properties for the share and disable inherited permissions.

I usually leave share permissions to full and restrict using ntfs permissions. share permissions are only in effect over the network, so someone could log in locally and still get to the information. remember that share and ntfs permissions combine and the MOST restrictive of the two will take effect.
