I want to buy the hercules Prophet 4000XT or the 4500.
My mainboard is an Epox EP-MVP3G5 and Tech support tells me that the AGP slot is Ver 1.0 1X-2X but the recomendations on the Hercules is AGP 2.0 Compliant and epox says not to use it. Are the ver. of the AGP slot (1.0-2.0) decribing the AGP mode? Example AGP ver. 1.0 is 1X and 2X and ver 2.0 is 3X and 4X?
I have read in a manual on bios's that if you use a 2X card (133Mhz)transfer mode but you board doesnt handle it then it will only operate in 1X mode (66Mhz)
If all this is correct then I should be able to use a video card that requires an AGP ver 2.0 at say 4X in my board but it will only run at 2X?
Are thier any other things to worry about like voltage's ect.

Thanks

Answered my own question thanks anyway

Your motherboard should meet or exceed the AGP 2.0 specification. If you are unsure if your motherboard is supplying enough power, please contact your motherboard manufacturer and ask them if your particular motherboard is AGP 2.0 compliant. This is not the same as AGP 1x, 2x, or 4x, as these are AGP transfer rates, not AGP standards.

FYI, AGP 3x does not exist. It's only 1, 2 and 4x.
