Im buying a another M/b and chip and im going AMD This time I have $300(Pricewatch.com Prices) for the processor and M/B. I was also looking to overclock it as well. I was interested in the barton core series. SO what M/B and AMD Chip should I Buy:confused:
Actually which is better at multitasking AMD (Barton core) or the P4 HT?? (under 3ghz)

If you want overclocking without a lack of features the Epox 8rda+ is a very good o/c board and has a lot of added extras.
If i may quote giblet plus from another thread the Bartons are indeed a little 'unpredictable' when it comes to overclocking. IMO sumink like a tbred XP 2400+ is a good overclocker for the money.

yep go with jakks suggestion T-bred B 2400 and an Ep 8rda+.
Or you could go higher on the CPU but I dunno what would be good for oc. look for a 333fsb though for that kind of budget.

The jurys still out on how well the Bartons overclock, for a decent price you can have a 2500+ Barton with 512k cache an 333FSB
Or for a heck of a lot less you can have a tbred b Xp1700, Xp2100, Xp2400 and overclock it well beyond what the 2500+ is likely to reach.
It really is up to you but the Bartons dont look like the chip of overclockers

You really should get the Delta version though. Then you can upgrade to a barton with 400FSB later on.
One of these: link (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=436&MODEL=MS-6570)

So i guess the MSI Board that i see for $85 on pricewatch isnt it?? It only accepts a 2700+ at any rate Tbred B looks like what im going to end up getting. This computer is going to be more for business but im going to be OC' it moderately as well. Is the MSI MB that i see on Pricewatch (MSI K7N2-L (6570)) a good board or Should I shell out the money and get the delta? I am not planning on upgrading the cpu so thats why im trying to make everything final and decided now

If you don't think you'll ever upgrade the CPU to one with a 400FSB then no you might as well go with the normal K7N2-L since it's just for buissness you might as well save $$$ on the mobo and get the best CPU you can with the remaining cash.
The K7N2-L supports right up to the Barton 3000+ at the moment. link (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=393&MODEL=MS-6570)
just click on CPU support under Relevant Links on the right.

What do you have for the RAM and the HSF?

You'll probably find that BIOS flashes will also come out enabling you to run newer chips on the board anyhows, which should allow for a little more in the way of CPU compatibility

With the RAM im am going small with somthing like a Mushkin,OCZ or Corsair High Perf 2700 256 chip
What is HSF??
FYI I have about 800 to spend so i wanted to spend most on the chip m/b and good RAM but i also have to by all the other things mouse keyboard monitor HDD case.
I currently have a
Soyo Dragon p4x400 ultra platinum m/b <~~ OC Unfriendly way to unstable
2.4G Intel L2 512, 533mhz 18x
Ati Raedon 9500 pro OC'ed like a 9700 stable
1 Mushkin hi perf ddr 400 PC3200 CL 2-2-2

HSF = HeatSink and Fan
p4 with hyperthreading is good but out of your budget. Get an nforce board (the MSI might be good, epox and abit are for sure) with the features you want.....lan, firewire, usb, graphics. Albatron is selling an nforce board with video now, i have heard it is a good combo for about $110, and it might be a great deal for a biz computer. Then spend the rest of the $300 on the fastest cpu you can get...most tbred b will get to 333 fsb, like a stock barton so I dunno if it matters which........and some good ram 3200 if you are going to overclock, 2x256 is better than 1x512 if they are matched.

I have decided on the epox 8rda+ and the 2700+ Barton core im just at a loss for the HSF since i am so used to P4. So should i get 2 OCZ 128 dual channel??

For the heatsink sumink like a Thermalright slk-800, soupled with a decent, but quiet fan

yup the slk-800 would suit the setup nicely as long as the board has the round connectors required. You said you were going with the Epox so I do believe it has them.

any suggestions on a fan?? the only decent fan that i know of are the tornado f5's but the two that i have in my p4 are way too loud.
