"Centrino" is the whole platform which includes the Pentium-M (codenamed Banias), the Intel 855 chipset, and an Intel validated 802.11 card. The processor itself is actually very good. It runs at lower speeds than the P4, but like the Athlon it gets more work done per clock cycle. And for very long life, when the processor runs in low power mode you get 900Mhz at .9 volts. Its basically a setup for truly "mobile" laptops, longer battery life, and the equipment to access wireless hot spots....
