Permanent Win98/Win2KDesktop arrangement

I like to have my programming icons in a line on the bottom, my sytem resources iconns in the top right, web stuff in the midddle. In the somewhat god old days of Win 3.11 i could hold down shift and exit - it would save my screen my way.

Is there a way to do this in Win98/2K?

i dont know if this is any help but if you right click the screen and turn off auto arrange in the arrange menu things will stay where you put them

or if you leave it on you can move them and they will be in a nice order... but i dunno if that would work for you... personally i only have four things on my desktop
