The board is probably putting your fsb in sync with your memory speed. You either need to overclock the ram to 1066 mhz, buy 1066 rdram, or be happy with what you have now.

how hard and risky is overclocking memory?

Since you have an Intel motherboard, you will not be able to overclock at all. Sorry about that.

thats the overall FSB....the CPU is still having 533 but since you have a 400MHz ram it states so.

does the mobo support PC1066?

your cpu's FSB is 400 just like P4 2.4 comparing it to P4 2.4B which has 533 FSB......(.13 micron northwood)

cyber: it is a 533 fsb chip not a 400, also my board is not the r version and does not support 1066 ram this is a "new" chip that was replaced under warranty when i had my old chip it said that it was running at 533

thanks for the help, i do know that next time i will not be getting an intel board, with all of the retrictions i cant do anything, i will just live with what i have i suppose. The software tools did not do anything by the way.

well im sure your disappointed.....since 533 is big compared to 400 (100x4 compared 133x4) quad pumped.. but still you have a great MoBo. RAMS (oh i envy you(RDRAM) always wanted to try them.....:)) well just stick to it......

well easily enough i just had to upgrade the bios a few versions, couldnt go witht the newest, apparently it only works on the newest revision, and now fsb is running at full, figured i would post this in case anyone else has similar problem, the board came with p06 and i upgraded to p19 :t
