Ok, for the longest time I have had two computers networked, w/ a shared internet connection. Both have windows XP Pro. Now, recently, I had a peculiar problem in the computer that connects directly to the internet. All internet based applications worked perfectly except for websites; I simply could not load them.
I called tech support, and they told me to get rid of Norton Internet Security. I did, and got ZoneAlarm, which has served me well. However, now, the internet connection is not shared between the two computers. This problem originated when the websites would not load on the directly connected computer. Now, I have the ability to access and transfer files accross the network, I just can't use the internet from my secondary computer.

Any ideas as to what happened?

For starters uninstall Zone alarm totally, it is 'the most evilest piece of software ever when dealing with a network TM'. Secondly check the configuration for your host machine are the same as those stated at www.practicallynetworked.com under their ICS guide

Okay, I'll see what I can do w/ the guides.

Also, what should I use for a firewall?

when all I had was the WinXP firewall, I had popups every three seconds.

for the sake of troubleshooting disable all forewalls for now, even the XP one. I find the best to use when networkign is sygate, but get back to that later.

To reduce popups in administrative toosl tyou may want to disable the messenger service ;)

okay, I followed the steps in the guide, and nothing changed. I tried to repair the networked computer's connection and it had problems renewing the IP address. I'm using a bridge, with one connection active, and one not connected(but not disabled)
