I was changing heatsinks, and something went wrong with the clip. No boot, two little chips on the core and two little singes on the heatsink. Oh well, I get a nice new AIUHB XP2100, and my folks get my XP1800. :D

Adopt? They might. They're pretty angry with me right now. :(
This is my money I'm wasting, FYI. :(

Hehe
My new XP2100 is at 180 x 12.5 (2250mhz) right now. I gotta unlock some higher multipliers. :)

It wasn't that bad. All I did was break a $30 processor on my 2nd computer. I think the clip on that heatsink was wierd - I hadn't used it before.

I find that sometimes the best way to get an upgrade is too break what I have and do not want. I got a new HD because my old one did not 'work'.
Its bad I know but effective:D

Well gib sorry to hear but I guess now you can use that LRWW to its fullest :p
:r
I'm lucky, I suppose.
All flip-chips I've dealt with (Coppermine 550 and 733, tbird 1000, xp1800 pally, xp1800 tbred, xp2100 tbred, xp2400 tbred, and R300) are chipped on at least one corner. All of them still function 100% except the pally which burned up because of inadequate hs contact.
The tbird 1000 was a close call though --- it's on a K7VZA, which is a b**** to get the heatsink off of because the capacitors are so close to the socket. Moving to from CPGA to OPGA makes the substrate bend more, so less stress is placed on the corners of the chip. Hence, XPs and coppermines are harder to crack than tbirds. They still do, however. :p

Running the memory at ~140MHz I believe?
Good bus clock though.
I know some people doing 200MHz on a 4 divider, 50MHz PCI bus :x
Don't know how they do it

I've only run into one chip on one flip-chip that I've personally used. It was on a Duron 850 that someone else installed the original HSF on. It was a tiny chip on the corner of the die and the processor is running as I type this.
So far I've never had a problem, but I am VERY careful when installing the HSF on any AMD products.

Nope. I got my pc2100 PNY and Micron sticks at 180 fsb also, with 2.7V. :)
The 5.7 bios version I'm using for my kt3 has 1/5 pci divider support. ;)

Running two generic sticks of ram @ 166MHz on this **** KT266A board with only a 4 divider. I've decided to say to hell with it; I'll see how long it lasts. Unlocking didn't work, running @ 166*12. :x
...@2.8v:p

wow, so many chips. That's why I won't go with AMD :)

Mine broke because I used a clip with a heatsink it wasn't designed for. :p
