Just updated my video card to a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 adapter plus I am using a LG Electronics 500LC flat panel monitor. My problem is two fold:
1.) There is times when I am surfing and flipping between web pages that my video refresh seems to lag sometimes and it is drving me nuts....
2.) I have my adapter set to the below:
-refresh rate 70 MHZ.
-screen resolution set to 1024 X 768.
-True Color 32Bit.
I am ruuning Win98SE.. I was wondering if you guys could shed some light on this for me. I have heard great image quality characteristics from this adapter and I want to be able to fully utilize it's ability.
Thanks

This makes it sound like you're using MS Windows default SVGA driver instead of the Nvidia Detonators. That 'lag' you're describing is the 100% CPU & memory subsystem load and 0% or that being done by the video card you just put in.
Did you uninstall your other video card along with the old drivers? What are the rest of your specs? And did you set up a GART driver? Answer all these and post back.

head over here and get some new drivers. 30.82 and 40.72 were my favorites.

It shows that I have Nvidia driver loaded, however I will try to upload the drivers you spoke of. Does it matter who manufactured the adapter, hence PNY????????

No, the NVidia reference drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_43.45) work with all NVidia cards.

Refresh may be a function of system memory deficiencies. How much RAM do you have? How much is in use? Excessive swap file usage may be the cause.
Scan for spyware too:

If you have that much memory, some people around here say you don't really need one at all....in any case I'd set a small one (128 min. and max) to be on the safe side. Having them the same produces the least fragmentation. Try setting your display to 16 bit, unless you really need the 32 bit. You may be able to set the refresh rate higher. Make sure you have your monitor's driver.
