Ive written a 'begginers guide to gfx overclocking' based around Rivatuner. In it ive taken the 'driver level' overclocking route, simply because ive always used that method myself, for no real reason other than i found it easiest.

However are their any drawbacks of Driver level o/c compared to hardware level, or do they just do the same thing?

Cheers

According to the RivaTuner docs:

HARDWARE
o Full driver independence due to direct access to NVIDIA graphics processor's registers.
o Unlike the Detonator drivers, RivaTuner's low level overclocking module doesn't switch display mode and allows to avoid annoying display mode switch when applying overclocking settings at Windows startup.

SOFTWARE:
o Maximum overclocking safety due to NVIDIA driver's overclocking interface (aka CoolBits) utilization.

I've always used hardware overclocking, but for no reason other than it sounded more "hardcore" :D
