I'm getting sick of every last one of my 48kpbs, abd I've been wanting to go up to DSL, but the companies that have the best deals (free modem, etc) want a year contract. Since I'm a dorming college student, Im never home for more than a 3 month stretch. (I would basically want it for 3 months of summer, and January of winter break).

I think I'm going to end up dialing up until I have my degree though...At least its only 4.5 mo/year now. I'm flying at 10Mpbs the rest of the year http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. But once you've tasted it, its hard to go back.

I'm in that phase now.

Haven't the slightest idea what a CD-MODEM is. I also wonder why you need a dial-up modem. I only needed a network card.

The dial-up is for back-up, i think, I'll never hav anything faster thatn that, untill i move that is...but oh well, they ussualy provide a back-up dial-up #, incase the DSL goes down...
