I like to just do it and ask questions later. How about yourself?

depends on cost and importance mostly.
before i bought my Athlon with KT266A mobo, i printed out at least 30 pages of benchmarks and articles relating to the Athlon series of chips and comparing motherboard north bridges. most of the info came from Anandtech and TomsHardware.

for major choices i always ask. for things like brand of pens, some video games - i just wing it :)

You can't set a bridge on fire, then write a letter for the water to put it out.........just do it!:t
