I had to format my hard drive so I made a copy of my driver for the teac55a cdrom, but now it doesn't work.I need one that will work in dos because without it I can't install windows again.I've tried what few drivers teac has to offer but I can't get them to work. The driver I was using worked in win 95 and in dos mode.If anyone could help me please do so-This is a computer for my kids to play on and they're getting tired of waiting if you know what I mean.

Have you tried a bootdisk off a win98 pc? Or you can go to www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com) .

Hmm, did you have a 95 boot disk? the driver on that disk has worked for several different cd roms for me (in dos). I use a 95 boot disk for windows 98 when I need it, (like a reformat). I forgot to mention I have never made a 98 boot disk that would work following all instructions. Thats why I use my 95 disk, "Ole Faithful"
and because I can't rememeber some things,

I tried the win 98 boot disk but it only works with IDE cd roms amd I can't use it on a teac 55a cd rom, so I'll try to find a win 95 boot disk and try that.
It appears that the TEAC 55a is a NON-IDE CDROM drive. It has to be connected to an interface card such as a CDROM controller or soundcard...
Look here for instruction on how to load DOS drivers by configuring the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys file...

The DOS driver TEAC_CDA.SYS has been sent to your E-Mail...
ok I got teac cd rom driver for the teac 55a with driver card to load successfully but now when I try to access the cdrom I get error message "cdr101: not ready reading drive R:"R is my cdrom drive letter. the drive also makes some weird noise.I have tried several cds that I know work ok. Any help would be greatfully accepted.

OK, I know this is doubtful, but what about the chance that your old CD drive has just died? Have you opened your case and moved anything? You didn't change how it was hooked up or anything did you? Why did you reformat your hard drive?
First I tried the drive on another computer today and it's ok, I had to format it becouse the kids have saved so much junk on it and also messed up some of the computers programs and It was to the point that most of the programs didn't even work anymore. So I decided to just format it and start over.
