I'm building a PC and am running into a problem where the ATA/66 cable is simply about 1/2 as long I it needs to be to reach the drive bays. Is there any way to extend one of the cables? What if I use old 40 pin cables instead? Thanks in advance.
Get longer ata66 cable. Running with the 40pin ata cable will revert the drive to udma33.

Mike:
Try www.a2zcables.com/ (http://www.a2zcables.com/)
I've never shopped there, but interesting site. Up to 36 inch long IDE cables??? Hmm...

Thanks for the replies! I stopped by my local Microcenter, and lo-and-behold; there they had 36" ATA/66 cables. So much for making an assumption! :-)
