Hi all,

I came across this post on a neglected forum. Any ideas for a solution?

Recently when powering up,after the system scans ide drives I get this message ' warning fast track does not detect proper interrupts please check your pci irq set up and make sure the pci slot supports bus master operations '

Because of this windows does not load.

After restarting and/or switching off at the power button several
times I am offered access to safe mode but not normal start up.
Mainboard is asus a7v333,processor amd athlon xp2200 (1.8 ghz)
Drive is partitioned and windows 98 and xp pro is installed.
Have reinstalled xp but problem continues.

Another twist to the problem is I am sometimes allowed access to the boot up screen (boot magic installed) where I can choose the os I wish to boot into,if selecting xp the os will freeze during boot up but if selecting win 98 it will load without problems.
There you have it!

He should update the BIOS on his Promise card and motherboard and check in BIOS setup to see if Bus Mastering is enabled for his PCI slot.

I'm assuming that he has a card and not built-in RAID.

Thanks BPB.

I have passed the information on. If it helps I'll report back here in case anyone is interested to know if it was of any help or looks up that error message in the Sysopt archives.
