I need to add some RAM so I can actually play Si****** without lag so I was going to add another 256MB to the 256 I got now, but I was just wondering what type I should get. I dont want to spend too much money so I didnt know which name brand to go with. I'm looking for something (name brand) on pricewatch.com (or if anyone has some good links) that is not going to be crappy, but I dont want/need real expensive top of the line stuff either.
Here are my computer specs:
-WindowsXP Pro
-ASUS A7V-266E
-AthlonXP 2800+
-256MB RAM (Atlas)
-GeForce4 Ti4200 o/c'd
Thanks,
Drag

Try to get the same ram you got or brand to insure compatability, believe kingston, pny are cheap well used brands though. Sure others can recommend more.
PC2100 is the maximum you can get, I recommend on Micron/Crucial, Kingston, Samsung or other well known brand.

Alright, the kind I got was Atlas 256 PC2100 stick from pcboost.com I think it was. Anyways, I seriously think it's bad or something, my computer seems so slow all the time. Even if its not bad though, I know I still need to add more. Is it OK to buy OEM, or should I only buy retail? The RAM I got was OEM and it came in just one of thoes little static free plastic baggies.
Thanks,

For the suspect memory, you can run memtest86 on it. And if you ever want to know what memory will work, plug your system specs into crucial.com and it will tell you in detail what will work.

Crucial 256mb sticks have a very good price to performance ratio, and as the dayglo messiah of day time antiques shows David Dickinson would say, ATM theyre 'CHEAP AS CHIPS!'

I just bought this....
Crucial Micron 512MB 64x64 PC2100 DDR RAM, 184-Pin, CL=2.5-Unbuffered 2.5V, 6-Layers
CT6464Z265 Requires DDR supported Motherboard - Lifetime Warranty. Model#: CT6464Z265 -OEM
I wont be able to use this with the 256 stick that I have already, will I? I am 99% sure it is Atlas or something like that.
And that memtest86 will tell me if that 256 stick is bad? Where can I download that?
Thanks,
drag

www.memtest86.com
and as for the Crucial it should be able to work alongside other brands, they dont have to match
