INSANE
...another word for sweeeeet http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
The high-output, low distortion subwoofer is a bass-reflex type with a flared, tuned front port and two 8-inch side-firing woofers
wow
That is a lot for a pc sound system.

Klipsch is great and all but although dirt cheap compared to home theater speakers. I've come to expect low prices on computer "goods" although they are always worth the money instead of introducing there 5.1's for $399 i wish they would sell them for more like 300 and the 4.1's for $250. I mean its only one 60 watt satellite and a 40 more watt sub than the 4.1's and they jack up the price $100. ya feel me

I didnt even notice that...8 inch drivers? thats HUGE.
They also talk about some kind of 'control tower'
The v2.400s, which is essentially the 4.1 w/o the control pod is $250 (Or was, thier discontinued).
I think thier jacking up prices pretty steeply for each upgrade because they wanna start making some good money outta these..I mean $250 for 400w for the original v2.400 system is incredible.
Your not going to find many other systems at less than a buck a watt. Even the newest one, at $399 for 500w is still under a buck a watt.
Im not sure how thier gunna divy up that extra 100w. The sub got bigger, but generally, the center channel is more powerful than the satillites.
What I hate about Klipsch products is that the price it debuts is THE price for the product until its discontinued.
Theres no time-price curve for them, like other products. Also theres no retailer thatll have it a few bucks cheaper than the next - Everyone who carrys Klipschs are all the same price.

Initially I was slightly put off by that as well. But upon reconsideration I think it's actually a good thing, for a few reasons:
- First, they could never pull that off if their products weren't in such high demand. The know they make quality stuff, and they know what they want to be paid for it. And this IS what they will be paid for it. That also allows for them to run a tighter ship, financially.
- With a budget that doesn't fluctuate unexpectedly and products that are always in demand, they are in complete control. You don't have to worry about Joe's Electronic's totally overcharging you for **** or Tom's Speaker Warehouse selling you a returned system. Klipsch guarantees a quality product and for a nice price, IMO.
- Without doubt, their products are MORE than reasonably priced. I mean $400 for a 500watt 5.1 system?!? That's INCREADABLY cheap. You try to put together a 500watt anything system for less than $500 and you're kidding yourself. Plus, you get to listen to all that power through Klipsch drivers! I know more than a few "audiophiles" that will tell you Klipsch make THE best loudspeakers in the world. I know there are quite a few "best" loudspeakers in high-end audio, but without question Klipsch is one of the big-boys and have earned their reputation over many many years.
And if this 5.1 system is a bit pricey for you, there's always the 4.1 system...or even the 2.1 system. I have the 2.1 set with it's "measly" 200watts and I've never had to turn the volume over 50%. And I like LOUD music. I enjoy all kinds of music, but mostly into hard rock/metal...and even with music that's supposed to be over-the-top loud I've never needed to go over 50% volume to get the desired loudness. What's even more impressive to me is how these speakers will give you that same volume with something as precise & delicate as say Jewel's voice in an 'unplugged' show. And do it with crystal clarity. Now I know why some of my audiophile friends are so adamant about Klipsch...they rule.

40 more watt sub than the 4.1's
Dude, that is a HUGE increase for a pc subwoofer. Heck, my dad's cheap $50 Altec Lansing 6 1/2" sub is 30w by itself. Actually, it is quite a good increase in any audio environment - not just pc.

true it is a big increase compared to 30watts. I dont think it was that much compared with the 160watt sub in the 4.1 But thats not what i ment anyway i was saying that I didnt think 40watts more and the extra satellite warranted the price increase.
Also even @ $500 dollars the 5.1 would be a fantastic deal compared to normal world speakers. **** at $400 dollars its still pretty expensive for computer speakers. example: ram is cheap right now you can get 256mb pc133 for under $50!!! Remember how much it would have cost 2 years ago. what if it increased to $150 it is still cheap(still less than $1 a megabyte) but not as spectacular a deal as it was before.
The klipsch are still a pretty good deal but just not as good as the were before.
