In fact they even post a link to the code at the website. Now might be a good time to update your virus protection.

Thanks for the heads-up wyvrn. Will be interesting to see what ZoneLabs does to combat this, if they can.

-----------------

I have placed calls to ZoneLabs and sent them email to confirm whether or not they were aware of this, and what they plan to do to combat it. Will let you know if I get a response back and what it is.

I am considering getting it and would like to see what kind of a response time they have on security issues.

At least I have confirmation that Zonelabs has received my phone calls and email.

Of course, all I got was the standard automated response to my email, but at least we know they have it.

On their web site, they said 24-72 hours for a response. Automated response said they were experiencing high volumes, so I am expecting a detailed/personal response closer to the 72 hour timeframe.

Will post the results when I get them.

Ironic!

As I was considering this issue my ZA 2.6 reported a probe attempt from someplace in Colorado (I'm NJ) - glad ZA was in place.

Won't you have to let it in before it could hurt you? So applying good sense can still protect here.

That's my question too, how is this different than any other virus, maybe it isn't?

Isn't the purpose of Antivirus and Firewall software to keep these types of "programs" from getting on your system in the first place?

There was another similar thread here about a "vulnerability" in ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm Pro where the uninstall program could be activated by malicious code... I never heard anymore about it... and I can't find that thread either.

boboy, did you read Robert Richmond's Freeware Guide to Internet Security (http://www.sysopt.com/articles/freesecurity/index.html) yet? You should be able to find something there to help protect yourself. ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/download/index.html) is also FREE for personal use.

I think it is like a trojan from what little I can find on it. Therefor you need to keep your virus updated. I doubt it will turn into a major vulnerability, but it is better safe than sorry.

That would be great because I just started using Zone Alarm and I know a lot of people here us it as well.

I'm from a different country but I don't have an anti virus. Would virus attacks kill your pc, I can still reinstall windows right?
