I just got a copy of MS Office 2000. Am VERY disappointed with the options present in the installer. You can't choose to have some of the packages disabled in "Customize" installation: e.g., FindFast and others.
I am very irritated by this "compulsory" installation of packages which I don't need at all. Why the he** do they even call it "Customize" installation. Dammit. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
Yes you can. It's not fast find anymore, I think it shows as 'Indexing'.

You know there's the option of selecting a list of options for the packages?
-Run from My Computer
-Run all from My Computer
-Run from CD
-Run all from CD
-Installed on First Use
-Not available
There are some packages with the first 5 options available. Some don't even have the 5th option available. Some don't even have the last option available (Not available/not installed). And FindFast is still Findfast under the installation. I saw it.

Installed on first use is roughly equivalent to Not installed.
If you never use it, it'll never be installed.
And if you do, it'll say 'gimme the CD' http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
The ones that dont have the 5th option optional maybe integral to something else working...Or maybe not.

"I just got a copy of MS Office 2000"
Now that could be a problem, if indeed iit is a ":copy" and not a licensed software set...
I will assume that you mean, "I just got my own copy of MS Office 2000 and...."
I found a default install of Office2K to perform with excelence! Perhaps the best MS product yet - they must have had help from Linux devolopers http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
