Looking for some opinions on case cooling fan configuration. All exhaust or half exhaust, half intake........
Myself, I have an Antec SX1040B2 case with 400w PSU, and four 80mm fans, three as exhaust and one intake.
I don't have any cooling problems, running about 33C/91F, was just curious how others config. their fans.

You want cooling solutions! Easy! Put your PC before an air-conditioning set and that will solve your problem.

Flow in should = flow out. Wax on, wax off.

Put a fan in the hard drive cage too - or move an exhaust fan there.

I like to have slightly more exhaust than intake capability, fan wise. One current config has 2- 80 mm intakes on side blowing on mobo, 2 exhaust on top of case , and one exhaust each front and rear. Case is full, running 4 hdd raid, nic, etc and it stays cool. I,m working on putting fans on rheostats to balance even further, and because it sounds an LCAC coming at you at full speed. :)

Yer gonna suck dust into your optical drives and other wierd-but-bad places with more exhaust than intake.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I've not noticed any dfference in cleanliness or failures, but the cooling is better. I have an open fan slot that takes up the slack. I give it a good cleaning every couple months, and watch my filters.:)

i've found that all exhaust is definetly the best because if yur blowiung air out it's gunna come back in anyway! and that way you won;t have the dust everywhere, especially if u have a giant window on the side like me!

Slightly more intake than exhaust is best for keeping down the dust levels. I'd try for that if I could:D The extra pressure will blow out the nooks and crannys anyhow:eek:

You had better calm down, GJGJR12. First off, caps are rude. Secondly, we don't use expletives (like screw) lightly here. You can use it for effect - rarely. Don't make a habit of it.

SysOpt is not your playpen.

Its cool everyone calm down, you'll find a lot of "over spoken" members on these forums. Its the power tweaky nature that subtly takes over.

As for airflow exhaust is more important for temperature, but dust needs to be regulated by a clean up every 6 months at least.

Intake I have found is a waste of time if your PC is well ventalated as the exhausting of air will draw more air inside the case. However if you use a front fan down below the hard drives its only worth drawing air in here as little warm air lies around this part. Also I have found a PSU with 2 fans can be quite handy as well.

to thread starter:

You don't say what your Processor is, if its a pentium thats probably normal, if its an AMD then the temps are really good. NOw put in the hottest grafix card you can find (eg Geforce 4 Ti). You might as well unless you have already opted for a red beauty(radion in this case)
