Hi All......

I have got a P4 2AGhz cpu. I'm now looking for a good motherboard that is reliable and has most features.
I came to the conclusion to get either ASUS or ASROCK.

ASROCK is new but cheap-- so can't decide should i go for it or not

--Any suggestions to help me ddecide would be appreciated...

Thanks..

AFAIK Asus is better because Asrock is just a cheapo version of Asus. so if your on a budget it might be ok.

Asus all the way. Personally prefer MSI but Asus is number two on my list.

Asus stands for A Simply Useful Solution

I've tried a couple of Asrock boards (for AMD) and found them to be ok (excellent customer service) but wonder about their quality for middle-top machines (one board refuses to work correctly but none of us can figure out why).

Asus on the other hand, well I have nothing but praise for their boards. I buy lots of them and as yet haven't had a failure (so I can't say if customer service is any good).

I would always say if you have the money to spend buy seperates and buy named products (support is always better), Asus, Gigabyte, MSI are all respectable brands in my opinon (boards might be poor tho).

ASROCK boards are made by ASUS so I would happily get either. If they have similar features the ASROCK should be cheaper.

ASUS, even if their tech support is renowned for being horrendously shoddy

Asrock is also associated (and primary partner) PC****Z/Extremely Cheep Shiite.

Run out of facts, resorting to bullsh*t again, krazefinn?

ASRock is a completely independent spinoff from ASUS, brought up to COMPETE WITH the Elitegroup conglomerate (brand names ECS, PC-Chips, Matsonic, and others).

Thanks guys again...........

Here is my take ..

Looks like most of the gurus would go for ASUS.. at the same token ASROCK is catching up with big brothers and down the roads could be a good one..

I saw ASROCK P4I45D and it is sooooooo cheap and the same features in ASUS kinda expensive...( just wanted to share)

Thanks again......

Like peter said. Asrock isnt to be put against the Asus mobos. Its to extend asus through a seperate co. to compete on budget market. With ecs pcchips and etc. AND we need another low-end brand to keep them in check. Kinda like Intel to AMD stuff. Think of it like this guys (I used to be a construction worker). Asus is to Asrock like Black & Decker is to Dewalt. Dewalt spawned of B&D to see if the name sold or the quality. And Dewalt now kicks the **** outta B&D. Just as B&D was falling outta the hard core market (millwalkie etc.) They are being out sold by their own co. how better can it be!:)

Unless I was going for a very high end system I'd be tempted to go Asrock.

Having said that, the vast majority of systems I've built have used Asus motherboards. I just feel more comfortable building with Asus, especially if the system is for someone else.

1) If I want quality and fancy features, I choose ASUS.

2) If I want quality and don't need all the features, I choose MSI.

3) If I want to skimp on quality... I slap my self for even thinking about it, and I don't build it.

However, I'm willing to take a chance on most anything with a good rep and good reviews. Haven't yet seen either from Asrock, so they'd only fit Option 3 so far.

Someone in the forums about a month ago had the same basic question about ASRock.

I did a bit of investigating, and of course found them to be 'spawned from ASUSTEK'.

They are built cheaper, meaning without those nice tweakable features. I'd bet that ASRock boards overclock & tweak as well as Dell motherboards, that is to say not at all. At the same time, they're supposed to be built to be stable & less expensive.

I'd probably never buy a budget motherboard because that's the most important part IMHO of one's rig. 'Course, people who don't call their computers "rigs" wouldn't care a snit.
