hi

ive just upgraded to xp pro, and played ut to discover its now impossible

i set it to easy to see if i could complete it i 1hr. i reckon i could've, but the movement sucks!

whenever i release an arrow key, i continue to slide for aprx 2metres. iut never used to do this on 98se, and since im only 13, i dont have the money for UT2003

im using inbuilt xp kb drivers, plus latest detonators for my GF4
everything else is signed#

it also runs vv slow - 40fps in 1024/768 +max everything else

try turning down your resolution and the quality of the graphics, that will usually help out a lot, and make sure your settings are set to a level that will match close to your processor speed.

what are your system specs? Maybe XP is putting more of a strain on your system than 98 was. I noticed this with my notebook. It ran much faster under 98, but xp uses the extra 128mb of ram better.

What are your specs?

ive already stepped down the setting, i get 80 fps with

GF4mx
Duron 900
some random mobo

mobo makes the duron slower than my old pII 400 - v slow mobo

i have 384mb pc133 ram

i have dropped everything to rock bottom - 70fps, but still a bit juddery every now and then

i think its just a bit sluggish cos i hace 4X anti alaising and texture sharpening on by default

even so, its a GEFORCE4!!
and i need to set the settings down to play ut on a gf4? crazy!

then it must be the other hardware. Can you your mobo support a faster chip? 384 MB with xp and running a game that intense might cause you to page from the hdd that could slow things down a bit.

I was playing mohaa and man it was sucky in certain levels with 256mb, once I upped it by a gig...no more issues. I have bf 1942 and it runs smoothly (actually it gets buggy now and then too)

I use a radeon 7500, with a tualitin 1ghz @ 1.15ghz with a via chipset, and 1.256 gigs of ram.

Sorry, pal! You have to wait for extra cash and upgrade your PC again.

You know I just had to install windows 2000 because my pc keeps freezing with my games that require 3d.

I just hope it is not the video card.....

My 800 Duron used to perform quite well on UT2003. However, I also had 768 MB RAM and a Geforce3 TI 200. I got away with it also by turning stuff off in the background. Especially that file sharing stuff. That really sucked the juice out of my CPU when playing on-line. Laterz. :x
