I have a Radeon 8500LE w/64MB DDR and the DVI, VGA and S-Video connections.
I had this in my W2K Pro machine and couldn't get different resolutions for
the two monitors i had hooked up.
Both monitors are LCD's one 15" and one 18". I want to set the 15" to
1024x768 @ 75hz and the 18" to 1280x1024 @ 60hz.
After doing some research, it looks like not to many
people were having success doing this under W2K.
I decided to toss the 8500LE into my XP pro machine, and same thing. I can
not adjust resolution and refresh rates differently.
I used the drivers from my almost year old ATI CD, and also tried the newest
release from ATI's website.
Am i doing something wrong here, or is this just not possible with the LE
version?
If that's the case, someone want to recommend another Radeon board or other manufacturers board that this
can be easily accomplished with.

Thanks

Its not the LE's fault. You got the wrong version of the card is all.
Two types. Single ramdac- YOURS and Dual ramdac- better. The dual allows one dif. running two mons. at dif refresh rates and res. this is becasue that is what the RAMDAC does. It syncs the mon. to video. Like refresh rate is. Without dual ramdac BOTH mon. must be at same res/refresh rates. Hope that helped. And when looking for a card to do this type of dual config remember. IT MUST SAY "dual ramdac" when buying the card under description. they certainly will note it cause of its advantage.:)

PS> ATI has a higher freq. ramdac which is why the text and bold stuff looks better on their cards.

I was given this link that shows the 8500, and was told that the small square chip between the GPU, and the ATI Rage Theater chip is the 2nd RAMDAC. My board looks identical, so im assuming i have two RAMDAC's.
Funny i have read more vague information while trying to research this board. Some people say they have no problems running dual displays, others have all sorts of trouble. But i think i only found one person who said he was able to run different res and refresh rates with his 8500LE.
Seems like ATI put out a few different versions of this board to complicate matters.
I may just toss in an old PCI card i have and be done with it.
I have also been looking at the Matrox G550, and may grab one of Ebay.
