Bolls ... XBox presented at E3 is in it's beta stages, both hardware and software, I'm sure it will go throught many revisions 'till it reaches it's final customers.
Don't worry about Microsoft, B.G. knows what he's doing http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

well thats actually a good thing for microsoft. This problem has occured and now they will fix it (hopefully keep in mind it's microsoft http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ).
When the xbox comes out I think it will kill the competition. I'm sure it will have some problems at first like everything but microsoft will definetly clean house on the compitition.

Remember the countless problems and limited recalls associated with the early PS2 retail revisions? Similar issues like this Xbox incident are bound to happens in this new fast paced console market due to time restraints imposed upon R&D by marketing. Still, I believe the Xbox will likely be a quality product for those interested in console gaming.

Ah...but remember when windows 98 was being released...it crashed at press conferences too, what did M$ do? They released it, and included a fix for at least that bug in S.E. perhapse they will do the same here, they could include a "bug drive" that would allow users to buy a $70 "upgrade" to fix some problems and cause others!

After the incident at E3 they had to re-design the controller of the Xbox. This is how it looks now:

People say it is more of a computer than a console SIMPLY because it is made by Microsoft.
All last year, I would tell my friends that the XBox was going to kick some major bootay....now they all are believing me.
IMO, Nintendo has gone the way of the kiddies and will soon be in the minor league with Sony and Microsoft competing head to head for the Championship title belt on the world console stage.

Hmm.
Your In a Game. Your Kicking @$$ then after 16 Hours of playing trying to get to the big boss. you start shooting his guts out. then when you finally kill hime the game go's to enable all secret oarts of the game so you can explore. just beofre this happens.
FATAL EXEPTION IN: 3213FDGGYU$3214 in KERNAL32.dll. If this problem persists contact technical support.
Then you gotta restart and spend another 16 hours of playing just to get back were you were(Becuase xbox crashes when you save! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif )just tpo find out it did thr same thing again.

does the xbox really have a hard drive?

It would seem to me that if the Sega Dreamcast runs on Windows CE and doesn't have any problems with crashing, then maybe the Xbox will run just as well. The hard drive will be used to store game data but not the OS. Just like all of the other console systems that used memory cards for storage (Dreamcast, PS1, PS2...) It's just another example of anti-MS people not knowing what they're talking about...

The Xbox is going to be revolutionary. The two most important features I am interested in, even more than gaming, is the DVD playback, and the ability to digitally record television programs (possible charges every month like Tivo?).

I have never had any of my nintendo system crash on me, the ps1 crash on me once. And in my opinion there is no one that makes better games than nintendo and have you seen some of the games that were showed at E3, they certantly dont look kiddy to me. If the ps2 and xbox come down in price I might consider buying.

windows on a desktop has to deal with different mixes of software, hardware and drivers. Windows on a console works in a closed environment, same hardware and drivers for every system therefore there should be almost no problems.
I blame nearly all windows problems on compatability and AOL software.

The software for consoles is probably custom coded for the console. Also I assosiate crashes with win95-ME based Systems. My win2k has never crashed on its own. (only 96megs of RAM too) It crahses only when I try to do too much stuff at one time.
