I got a problem here.

I ordered a 92mm Panaflo fan for my Zalman. Now the Zalman came with the controller to adjust the fan speed > for this reason the fan has 3 wires : black, red and yellow.
THe new Panaflo does NOT have the yellow wire so it can`t be controlled.

What if I disassambled the Panaflo and build the wire in it?

CAn it be done? Will it work?

:( guess I didn`t pay much attention when I oredered it.

Thanks:rolleyes:

The speed sensor wire (often yellow) is one-way - OUT from the fan. It is a tach signal. The speed controller should be in series with the RED wire. You will be able to control the fan speed (adjust the voltage to it), just won't be able to know how fast it is actually running.

So basically what`s the yellow wire for?

The yellow wire is the tach(ometer) signal from the fan - just a series of pulses that the on-board health monitor chip can detect and translate into rpms so you can read it in your BIOS or your utility like 'PC Alert'.
