There is a file called License.txt in your windows folder. Part of it says:
1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights:
( Installation and Use. You may only install, use, access, display and run one (1) copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on the COMPUTER.
( Storage/Network Use. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT may not be installed, accessed, displayed, run, shared or used concurrently on or from different computers, including a workstation, terminal or other digital electronic device ("Devices"). Notwithstanding the foregoing and except as otherwise provided below, any number of Devices, may access or otherwise utilize the file and print services and internet information services of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, if included.

Legally speaking: No you cannot install the same copy on multiple computers are the same time!
Technically: Nothing is stopping you pre-windows XP from doing just that.
Morally: That is up to you.
Lots of people do install their one copy of windows on multiple computers in their home and some do even copy the stuff and give it to friends who in turn may copy and give it to other friends etc... That could turn in to a real problem for you if it is registered in your name!

I think that the only legal way to do it is to purchase a license for each machine that you install it on, that's what I did.
If you go here (http://www.pricewatch.com/1/182/1316-1.htm) and go to one of the vendors and purchase a license (book and registration number, no disc), then the install should be legal.
