What are you looking for in a hard drive? Do you want a low price or slightly higher price but excellent reliability? If you want the latter, go with IBM http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I bought a 45gb IBM 75GXP Deskstar for $149.99 from Outpost.com with free shipping in December (not free anymore but still cheap). Warthog mad1 05-21-2001, 05:48 AM My Maxtor(40GB,7200RPM) just crashed, bad sector.Looking for a replacement with similar specifications. Thanks for the info. on the warranty of the Maxtor Drive. moparboy 05-22-2001, 05:37 AM I just got a 30gb quantum fireball 7200, 2mb buffer for $109 no rebate required from fry's wildbuffalo 05-22-2001, 07:33 AM I am also using Maxtor, and two months back started having bad sectors poping up all over the drive (different partition), called Maxtor CS and they sent me new drive first (offcourse they asked for CC info)and I sent the bad one back (I paid for return shipping). (But since you have already bought new drive, try the MAXBLAST utility which can do low level format and remove any bad sector problem.) Wild mad1 05-22-2001, 10:08 AM Might try some of the methods at,http://www.techrepublic.com/article.jhtml?src=search&id=r00320010108det03.htm, to get files off the drive before I return to Maxtor. This time I will set up the operating system and programs files on one drive and make a copy on cd. Could just be luck - but I doubt it..... SysOpt.com
