New Benchmark from AMD - N-Bench !

Liked 3DMark2000/2001 ? Just saw that one, d/l here (http://tweakfiles.com/benchmark/nbench.html) ...

N-Bench is a CPU Benchmark program that is capable of displaying 3D graphics. It consists of a "Demo mode" that plays back beautiful 3DCG movies and a "Benchmark mode" that measures CPU performance

Bah! The benchmark/demo sucked badly. There were like 10 polygones in the whole demo. The textures looked awfull. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was made 4 years ago...

Hey, as I said, no problem.

AMD says the minimum requirement is a 32mb videocard. I don't see what you need the 32mb video memory for, but that's what it says. Since a V3 only has 16...

I'm at 51%, downloading 7kb/s. That's really slow... GetRight has resumed 3 times already.

Took me 1hr 12min to download using cable modem. I think that tweakfiles just has low bandwidth. Only hit a max of 13kb/sec.
But the benchmark looked cool and worked on mine pretty good. The characters looked vaguely familiar.

Wanna hear a story about poor ND, who wanted so much to see the new benchmark, so he spend almost 3 hours trying to revive his wrecked Leadtek GF2GTS (not talking about d/ling 40MB on 5.6k connection) ? Well ... he did it. GF2 booted at last, presssing "Demo" key ........ this one is ugly ! Imperion1, don't know if you saw 3DMark(s) or one of these (http://www.scene.org/tips.php) before, but this one ain't cool, it sux big time. I'm amazed how AMD dared to release it at all, my Atari back in 80s looked nicer http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yea, the 3dMarks are cool. I run both of them.
But like I said, I hadn't fully run N-benchmark. Haven't even viewed the demo yet, just the first 3 games of the benchmark.

I must agree, these 3D graphics are really bad. It looks to be many years old. Why would AMD release this with their name on it?

anyways, maybe it wasnt working on your V3 because it defaults to hardware D3D. Since the V3 doesnt have T&L, it just coughs up an error message. Probably just needed to set it on software D3D.

I guess it's a problem with 32MB video memory requirement, as stated in Readme.txt, and not lack of T&L in V3. And you can't switch to software D3D in this one. Anyway, it's so bad I wouldn't recommend downloading this one at all http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

And you'd better look at the link I supplied above, can dig very nice things there, that can even beat the 3DMark ...

I have DirecPC and downloaded the program in less than 30 min. This is really slow, the best speed I could get is 27kps. A good site downloads at 80-105kps. But I have it and will see how it works. I know my hardware is sufficient. I'll let you know.

This is great. I ran the benchmarks and don't know if mine are great or not. The animation was great to view.

I am using a Duron 850. Boy the Athlon hi end cpu really makes a huge difference. Can't wait till I can get one for my system.
