Could someone help me please? I installed v4.03b over my v4.02d to solve some glitches, but I found it has record company blocking software that won't let you burn a song if it fits that filter. I tried to uninstall v4.03b and reinstall 4.02d, but when I went through control panel to uninstall it, it crashed big time...no error...just blue screen and dead in the water. Is there a special process for this??
I tried the same thing in safe mode and the harddrive just started spinning for about 15 minutes and did nothing. I then ended a task called "_INS5576" and it said it caused an error in "_INS5576._MP. I then restarted and uninstalled DirectCD...then I could uninstall v4.03b. BUT, I still can't get rid of the blocking filters that have been installed, even with the reinstalled v402d version. Any clues, guys?
Thanks, Jim.

My guess of course is that your problem lies in the registry. As to where in the registry I am not certain, most likely under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Also, since it supports CDDB, there maybe be some DLL's that crossreference the names of the tracks with a block list online. All I can say now is that I'm staying as far away from 4.03 as I can.
Filters!!! We don't need no stinking filters!!

I believe mr Goodbytes is right. It has to be something in the registry.
Sorry I cant tell you which keys they are.
THANKYOU though for the info on the upgrade.
Ill stick with v3.5c

I have Norton's Utilities. In these tools there is a reg-editor. It is quite different than MS regedit. Norton has a find filter, you can type in the name of the key you are looking for and in the window will appear all the keys that reference to what you are searching for. Sometimes there may be hundreds. You can delete the first one on the screen, press F3 and bring up the next and so on. It does take awhile to get rid of every key in the complete registry but it will work. Then you may reinstall your software and be back where you were before the upgrade. I personally have upgraded to 4.03b and 3.03b ECDC and DCD, have no problems, I have a Teach CDRW 512 EB, I needed to upgrade because I received a message for DCD, "No supported drives found" after upgrading all is OK. I did have also upgraded the firmware, I had problems in burning some audio files, the buffer would drop to 1 or 2, then just hang. Making a coaster. The burnproof is not supposed to do this. After upgrading the firmware, all is working great. I burned the same audio files after the firmware upgrade and the buffer was at 75-100 all the way thru.

I was able to delete v4.03b, but only after I deleted DirectCD first. I reinstalled v4.02d and still got the same system halt in Adaptec. I've racked my brain trying to think of anything else that could be interferring, but my guess is this is left behind from my v4.03b install and I can't get it off.
What happened was I was attempting to load music to the playlist to burn, and as they were transferring down Adaptec stopped and posted an error message panel that said something like "you do not have authority/rights to record this 'Everyday's Tuesday' selection"(can't remember exactly), and told me to go to a location on the internet that would assist me in procuring this selection if I still wanted it...but I could NOT load it into the playlist to record. That was the only one it stopped, but it did stop it.
