hi
i have cable connection and i share my connection with my roommate with a d-link router
but i have a problem everytime he use the bearshare the connection just suck , it just work the aol and msn messenger but really slow
so im wondering if there any way i can solve this problem

It's probably because that activity chews up bandwidth, and since you are on a college compus, there are probably a whole host of students sharing the same bandwidth, making it run slowly.

hey no im not in a college im in a building i have a cable modem connection with 1.5 mbs and it sucks
what do u want me to do with the link?

one thing to try is to maybe limit the upload/download speeds your roommate's bearshare runs at.
and even though your dl speed is 1.5mbs , your upload is most likely much less and all the extra traffic created by some of p2p apps and such can really put some strain on a connection even if they arent downloading much.

to see the actual effective speed of your connection. on campus here, we're connected with 6 bonded T1's (~9.xxx Mbps), and I am able to get about 2Mbps through the pipe shared with 2500 other students and 500 faculty right now (9:50pm on a tuesday evening) when i am at work, i have a direct link to the network core on a 100 line and get much better speeds :D
