When I upgrade to Windows 2000, I want to rid my machine of Adaptec (ROXIO) Products, and that includes DirectCD.

However, it would be nice to have the ability to write to CD's via explorer like anyother device.

Does Win2000Pro have an intrinsic Packet-Writer driver that functions like directCD or do I have to get third party software that performs this function? ... and if so, which one? I am not interested in recording music at this time, so Nero may be overkill...however, if it is the best choice...if not what out there performs just the DirectCD functions (FORMAT, drag/drop, etc...)?

Thanks Much

Maybe I should rephrase my question.

Does Win2K Pro allow you to write directly to a CDR/W device without third party software, such as DirectCD? That would include functions like format, drag and drop, etc... in otherwords, basic file management functions?

Thanks Much

Nope! You'll have to install a 3rd party software such as Direct CD or Packet Writer. But look on the bright side, Win2k already has UDF reader by default. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
