I am recording a tape through the line-in using Musicmatch. At the end of the tape, eveything went well but ONE thing:
I have now a 35minute long file. How do I tell Muscimatch or any other software to treat each gap as the start of a new song?
Thank you!

Search the Web for "sound forge xp". This is a stripped down version of Sound Forge that should allow you to easily split the one file into many. Costs about $40.00.

Adaptec Easy CD Creator has sound rec/edit app with auto spit built in. But you have to play with sensitity (how quiet/how long) to get good auto cuts.
Other wave editors will work by hand but ITS V..E..R..Y SLOW.

I have been transfering cassetes to CD, if you just let it run you will get the whole tape as one file, you have to stop recording after each song and then hit the record just before the next song, this will make each song a seperate file.
hope that helps http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks you all for your input. I also found the way to do it.
Using musicmatch, I click on "Autodetect music". I leave t on defaul (there are some choices but it worked fine with default.
