My friend with an Intel CPU has been talking smack. Would I beat him in benchmarks with my sys?

His is:
P3 800eb 133mhz FSB - Abit BE6-II
256MB Corsair 133 CAS2 RAM
Creative Labs GeForce - Annihilator Pro
Creative Labs SB Live! - X-Gamer
Plextor 8x4x32 & Creative 52X CD-Rom

Mine is:
800Bird will be bumped to at least 900 soon once my arctis silver arrives, Asus A7V, 262Infineon, Visiontek Geforce2MX(175/180) will be bumped to over 200/200 once my cooling comes in, SB Live, Pioneer 16X DVD, TDK 12X CDRW, IBM 30GB ATA100 7200rpm HD, etc.

His system may give yours a run with the 133 fsb. No matter to me, I'd rather have the OCable T-bird instead of the non-ocable 800 EB.

Camaro,
I agree with Dave all the way. AMD, though runs a little hotter than Intel, seems to benchmark much better than Intel.

although i have an intel computer, i think the amd would win in a speed test if all your other harware is good so i think you would win

Crackin RC5, the 800 T-bird does about 500,000 keys a second more than the P!!!

Intel Pentium III 800 2,236,741

AMD K7 Athlon Thunderbird 800 2,786,678

Here's a link to see for yourself:

I had a chance to see a Pentium III 800 with a Geforce 2 mx with 256 pc133, 20 gig UDMA100, 10000 rpm hD, NOT SURE WHAT MOTHERBOARD....run 3D-Mark 2001...
My 850 T/Bird ran it MUCH smoother with my old GF2MX, 13.6 gig UDMA66 7200 rpm hd, 256 PC133 (generic). Not bashing INTEL so don't flame me.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I sold my Pentium 3 800e,
I was totally sick with the pitiful performance increase over my Celeron 533 @ 66mhz FSB

Another one just built is a 366 Celeron @ 413mhz/75FSB and it boots in 32 seconds.

The Pee3 800 takes about 120 seconds, granted the Dell box it was in had about 6 TSR's I could not rid it of..

Randy's link is indicative of the end of the Pentium line. At 800mhz, a t-bird beats it by 500,000, but at 1100mhz the t-bird beats it by over 1,000,000. Processor speed is up 38%, but the margin doubles.

Camaro --

You should be able to beat him pretty soundly!

In Sandra, my Athlon 800 classic at 860MHz is "nip & tuck" with the 1.0GHz PIII and "smacks" the P4 1.2GHz up-side the head! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

You've got'em beat no problem! Best test RC5

Doesn't the T bird have the higher bus speed than the P3 eb? I believe the P3 EB does have more or faster L2 cache. I'd say the it's pretty close, if not the T bird b a slight margin. You could benchmark both systems. It will probably come down to who has the better hard drive.
