Anyone out there have any experience with a dsl or cable modem isp provider in Chicago? I can't seem to come up with muc from searching the web. All I can seem to find is business related providers. Any info would be great.

Thanks in advance,

I don't know if all cable systems are the same, but my ISP has a neat feature, I can disconnect my cable modem from my house, and connect it at my buddy's house (we're on the same cable provider, Charter) and it works great! AFAIK, DSL (phone) high-speed connections are dedicated to one location only, you have to tell the phone company when you move.

I bring my cable modem and router with when I go to my computer users group meeting each month, and whoever brings a computer with can connect to my system and use the high speed connection, kinda turns into a LAN party after the meetings.

I live in the 60659 zip code, and i use at&t @home cable for the internet. http://www.attbroadband.com/services/

I have gotten great sevicefrom them. when my cable modem wasn't working properly they sent a technician the next day to fix it. Fast download speeds, but upload is capped at about 10k/s. Telocity DSL is also available in some parts of chicago, but i prefer cable. http://www.telocity.com/thome/index.asp

Thats odd, i was just browsing through at&t's new broadband site, and i couldn't find any mention of @home. Are they embarrassed by it or something? Didn't they spend millions acquiring @home?
