This is only my opinion.

I know that a lot of us use Pricewatch to check out good deals on parts, and some of us are willing to try out a company we've never done business with in order to get a lower price. Don't try this with the subject company. There is only one thing that describes EVERYONE I've dealt with there: Institutional Incompetence.

Here's the story, if anyone is interested:
I purchased an AMD 1GHz processor that was on backorder. When I found it in stock elsewhere, I called 1stEWeb and told them to cancel the order. The girl that I spoke with had some foreign accent and kept putting me on hold. Finally she confirmed that the order had been cancelled and everything was done.

1 month later, after putting the PC together and shipping it out to my uncle, I receive the processor from 1stEWeb. Not to mention that my AmEx had been charged.

I called them back, explained the situation, and was told to ship the box back to them with the receipt in the box and they would take care of it. They received the box on April 18th and I am still trying to get my refund. And, as I'm sure you know, you can't roll a balance over on an AmEx so I've already had to pay the **** thing.

I have called 5 times in the past week, trying to get a hold of a woman named Angie. They tell me she's not in, and they take a message. I never hear back. So I call again and they give me a run-around, so I get forceful on the phone, and POOF she always manages to show up in the office at that moment. Of course they leave me on hold for 20 minutes in the process, with a different person periodically picking up the phone and asking who I'm waiting for.

I think I might actually be close to getting a refund right now (maybe within a day or two), but what I've had to put up with to get it is unacceptable.

If anyone wants a website to de-face, go to theirs and have a whack. Wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I know that you always take a chance with these fly-by-night, hole-in-the-wall companies, but this is ridiculous.

Sorry, I just had to vent about this.

Again, it's only my recommendation, but 1stEWeb is not worth patronizing.
