i4Digital.com
is the culprit this time.
Tried to order a item weighing about 2 lbs.
The shipping "calculator" was Broken(Sure it was)
The site advertisement at www.mysimon.com (http://www.mysimon.com) stated s&h $9.99+
I ALMOST hit the submit key, instead I called.
A person called Fred gave me Curt and Cursory treatment stating the s&h charge would be ->> $30.00 <<- !!!!!!!!!!
After making sure we understood each other, I proceded to tell him the constituted FALSE ADVERTISING and that if what he told me was correct, I would post this information all over the web and complain to www.mysimon.com (http://www.mysimon.com) about their mis-stating the shipping info.
He asserted that there was no falsehood because of the little plus sign at the end of the $9.99, I was furious.
I told him to mark the item up and charge normal shipping if they wanted to stay in business.
At reseller ratings another buyer said they charged him ->> $50.00 <<- for a 2# package.
Stay away far far away
Another shipping rip is "shop4digital.com"
$22.95 to ship a 3# package, but at least they were nice..

Buy from New Egg (http://www.newegg.com) , they have great shipping prices, and the item prices are pretty good too.

I'm with Kuasi, I got a bunch of stuff from NewEgg.com and their shipping was relatively cheap. I had a part dammaged in shipping and they replaced it FOC.

Try pricwatch.com to locate best prices and shopper.com. They usually list the shipping cost and most of the vendors usually charge what they advertise. One of the interesting things I've noted on pricewatch is if you a search for a product it will return a listing in price ordet from low to high. What I've noticed is in the majority of cases, the lower the item cost the more they charge for S&H.. I've found the best way to shop from these lists is to pick a vendor with a moderate cost and the S&H is very reasonable and in some instances free.. But one should remember the old Roman expression... Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I would strongly suggest the following sites. I have dealt with all of them i give a five star rating to all three
1. www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com)
2. www.premiersystem.com (http://www.premiersystem.com) (they give u great discount if u were sent by pricewatch.com)
3. www.z-buy.com (http://www.z-buy.com)
All of them have super nice prices and VERY good shipping deals... premier may appear bad.... but they mean real business. I bought my AXIA thunderbird and 256mb pc133 from them

The no.1 and no.2 vendor you linked have a very shoddy site.
Not that this is a total indicator of the type business that they produce, it does look like something done outta a basement.
I've seen the very same layout on many fly-by-night vendors, here today and gone tomorrow.
and
Mike;
You may notice that they encouraged you to "go-ahead" and submit and they'll e-mail you the s&h quote AFTER you give em the CC number, wrong!
I had to call them to pry the information from ol Rude Fred.
He KNEW I was Not going to place an order after hearing such a luducrus shipping figure.

Here's my letter to www.mysimon.com (http://www.mysimon.com) ->>
" I have been using MySimon for about a month.
Neat search engine.
However, a merchant stands out as a Villan, you need to know about this one.
i4digital.com , advertises $9.99+ shipping.
Today I attemped to buy a Koday DX3500 camera.
It and box weighs about 3 pounds as this would have been my 3rd 3500 this Month.
The shipping and Handling "calculator" did not work, they asked me to go ahead and SUBMIT my order and they would e-mail me the s&h charges after I placed it..
I did NOT, a call to them netted a short, and rude person named "Fred"
My comment about their "False Advertising" was not enjoyed by Fred too much.
I gave them the chance to amend their ways but they insted the s&h was fair.
I informed them of this action to mySimon.com and other avenues of retaliation.
Another customer stated a $50.00 surprise charge for a 2# package
http://www.resellerratings.com/comview.cgi?i4digital
another Rip Off artist is www.shop4digital.com (http://www.shop4digital.com) , they have very similar pricing and will NOT tell you up front what the s&h will be.
Thank You for your time
Most Sincerely

Yeah thanks a lot Richard. I'm glad you took the time to email them.
When I search for items I try both pricewatch and pricegrabber. I'll try mysimon next time.

I use Pricewatch.com
Although i hate when i get shafted for shipping..
When they said $9.99+ and told you $30 they weren't lieing..Although they were "misleading" ...
Still it is a VERY rotten thing to do..
Mike
Well, always ask for ALL charges involved before ordering!
Ironforge
05-20-2001, 01:27 PM
Yes, I make that a habbit as well.. I always get shipping charges before I place an order.. even if I have shopped there before..
Often, even if the final price is lower with $30 shipping, I will go with the place that charges a little higher for the item but has low shipping prices.
If they jack you around on shipping, what else will they jack you around on? What if you need to return the item, etc..
If they do not give me all the information up front, I don't deal with them..

Ray, what does this mean
quote-------
" Well, always ask for ALL charges involved before ordering! "
As though I didn't ??
Did ya completely read the post ?
I thought I made it clear that the whole problem was the FACT they did NOT provide shipping info, therefore I WASTED my time calling the jerks.
Ironforge, I totally agree, I'll pay a bit more for an item if the s&h is reasonable.
Good point.

Before I rant, I want to say that I am not affliated in any way with the vendors below...
I believe that Insight.com has to be one of the WORST! Our organization used to have an account with them (before I got here). The prices on the actual items were good and generally competitive, however the shipping was OUTRAGEOUS! Before you eBuy ANYTHING from Insight – shop around! If not, you’ll get eScrewed!
Since then I have been buying from Matt Vickery, at Northwest Computer supply, http://www.nwcomputersupplies.com, 800-735-3410. They charge only $8.50 shipping FOR ANYTHING! Floppy drive, monitor, mobo, whatever - $8.50. For some companies, they will even SHIP FOR FREE if the total sale is high enough. Check with Matt to find out.
I don’t want to seem like I am advertising for them – WHICH I AM NOT – it’s just hard to find a good vendor these days. Not only do they have a great program with shipping, they have a great RMA department too – for those just in case issues…

Yea Wyrvn I'll put the "Burn-IN" test to em http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif)
Thanks Mitchell, we always welcome positive feedback.
Make sure to post your opinion on http://www.resellerratings.com/ to let all know about them.
For those new to SYSOPT, I'm a ruthless Deal Hunter, take No Prisoners, tell it all.
However I give a vendor the chance to right a mistake before slamming them.
I use about 6 or so price search engines and find that I usually wind up going back to just a very few vendors for the best TOTAL price,
1. www.buy.com (http://www.buy.com)
2. www.staples.com (http://www.staples.com)
3. www.compgeeks.com (http://www.compgeeks.com)
4. www.tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com)
5. www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com)
6. www.outpost.com (http://www.outpost.com) (small stuff)
7. www.overstock.com (http://www.overstock.com) (refurb stuff)
8. www.hp.com (http://www.hp.com) (closeouts)
9. www.warehouse.com (http://www.warehouse.com)
10. http://www.9software.com/
I hope to add your suggestion to my top vendors,, thanks
