Hi everybody!
I am about to bid on something but it depends on one thing I do not know...

I want to buy a BP6 for my girlfriend, whose BF6 died recently. She has a Cel 566 in it and I can get another for it. Under Win2K, she coud really get some good Photoshop speed with 2 processors.

MY question is:
Can you run a BP6 with only one processor?

It will be a short while before I can get the second processor so I need to know. I have 10 hours left before I have to decide.

Thanks
Dave

I'm pretty sure you can. Pay a visit to www.2cpu.com (http://www.2cpu.com) .

Are you sure both those processors are regular (Mendocino) Celerons? Celeron II (Coppermines) don't work in it.

I think the mainboard originally came with a "dummy" processor, to use when you have only one processor. It's also possible there's a jumper on the mainboard for one/two processors.

The fc-pga celerons do not work? Argh! At least I lost the auction. I do not know why ppl go over retail prices for used stuff on ebay. Very strange. I found a BP6 cheap but if it does not support Cel 2....Thanks

Believe me, stay away from the BP6. I had one and it was replaced 2 times under warranty. The 3rd time the vender replaced it with any board I wanted. I went with ASUS products, have had not a problem with the ASUS board I received. Since then I have purchased another ASUS board and no problems with it either. If you absolutely want a dual cpu mobo, ASUS does make some great mobo's in this catagory. More pricy than ABIT, but better quality.
